All proceeds of artwork go to the Americans for Permanent Peace in Afghanistan (APPA).

Designbox will also be collecting new and used eyewear frames throughout the month for APPA's Glasses for Afghanistan Program.

Luke Powell has been travelling and documenting Afghanistan since the 1970's. This latest work reflects images captured in the past three years. His photographs have been developed onto large canvases that allow for the detail of his work to be fully realized. Beautiful panoramas show the eternal vastness of Afghanistan's landscapes while striking images of the Afghani game of Buskashi capture the tremendous intensity of a single instant. All come together to bring a more complete picture of this important country.


The Designbox Gallery is dedicated to promoting the expression of creative and collaborative work. It is home to a number of creative professionals and is located at 315 S. Bloodworth Street (between Martin and Davie streets), just a block from City Market in downtown Raleigh. We're open weekdays from 10am to 6pm, and on most First Fridays.
